In this blog, I will be going over 3 factors when picking out a new badminton bag to help select the perfect rectangular bag for you!

1️⃣ Do I like the look?
The slim design of the rectangular bags keeps everything to a minimum. There is no extra amount of space, and it is perfect for players that only need to pack their essentials when playing. I personally really like the look of carrying the bag on one strap and on the side of your body instead of wearing it two-strap backpack style.

2️⃣ How do I travel while carrying the bag?
Highly recommended for players that drive a car because it is so easy to slide into the trunk space or back seat like a Tetris block. Keep in mind that if you try to carry the bag onto public transit, it will stick out in front and behind you, which makes it easy to accidentally hit people or objects without you knowing.

3️⃣ How much do I overpack?
Amongst the 3 topics, I have to say that this area is where rectangular bags are the weakest. Due to the shape of the bag, it does not have a lot of flexibility in the structure of the material, and therefore, I do not recommend packing too many bulk items in the bag as it will expand and stretch out the bag. Rectangular bags are best packed with the badminton essentials such as rackets, shoes, clothing, small accessories, and water bottle.

So...Why have I been using rectangular bags for almost 10 years?

The first time I saw the rectangular bag design was at the 2012 London Olympics when select players were using the 2012 YONEX Pro Tournament bag, and I wanted one, so I could like and feel like an Olympian too. Even today, you will see a lot of BWF players carry rectangular bags into their matches, proving its dominating style. Currently, I am using the Yonex 92231WEX Pro Tournament Bag and love all the colours that it comes in!
