What to Know Before You Play
The Paddle Rack System
At busy courts like Queen Elizabeth Park, place your paddle in the rack to hold your place in the queue.
Rotate After Your Game
When courts are busy, players rotate off after one game or 15 minutes of practice, whichever comes first.
Doubles Preferred When Busy
During peak hours, play doubles to fit more players. If you're playing singles, expect to invite others in.
Call "Ball!" on Loose Balls
If a ball rolls out to adjacent court, call out "ball!". Remember that a slip on a stray ball can end someone's season.
Make Honest Line Calls
You call your side, your opponents call theirs. If you were disagreeing on whether a ball was in, it's in.
Wear Non-Marking Footwear
No shoes with dark soles, especially indoors. The courts are shared and marking damages the surface for all.
Tap Paddles Before and After
A quick paddle tap at the net before the first serve and after the final point. It's the pickleball handshake.
Skip the Unsolicited Coaching
Read the room. Unless someone specifically asks for feedback, keep technique tips to yourself.
