    Yonex Aerus 3 Badminton Shoes

    Yonex Aerus 3 Badminton Shoes

Yonex Co., Ltd. is proud to announce the release of its lightest badminton shoe ever — about 270 grams (for a size 26).

The POWER CUSHION AERUS 3, designed to absorb the impact of the intense footwork of badminton while not inhibiting a player’s movement speed, releases in late September 2018.

Modern badminton continues to become a faster and faster game, and players need shoes to meet the demands of the more intense footwork. Adopting Yonex’s proprietary shockabsorbing material, Power Cushion +, the AERUS 3 also features a redesigned midsole structure, further increasing shock-absorption and resilience, while remaining lighter and allowing for greater agility than ever before.

The upper part of the shoe realizes improved fit and decreased weight by adopting a new material that combines elasticity and toughness. Additionally, weight is reduced by the upper part of the shoe being one seamless piece, eliminating the need for fabric overlap and seams.

    New Features

    Seamless Upper

The Aerus 3 now features a softer upper which is 100% seamless

    Power Cushion +

25% more shock absorption and 12% more repulsion for faster footwork

    Wider Arch

Improved wider-fit compared to previous Aerus models

Power Cushion Plus, a new formulation and redesign of Yonex’s original shockabsorbing material

The shock-absorbing, resistant Power Cushion material, able to bounce an egg dropped from a seven-meter height without breaking it, offers spring and reduces fatigue.

Power Cushion Plus, treated with a special high-resistance resin and redesigned with plus-shaped treads featuring optimum placement and depth, retains the original lightweight quality of Power Cushion while offering 25% more shock absorbency and 12% more resistance.

Durable Skin and seamless upper combine to create a great fit and the lightest badminton shoe in Yonex history

By adopting the elastic and tough polyurethane material, Durable Skin Light, an upper which is lightweight and well-fitted was created.

In addition, the breathable mesh area has been increased by about twice to enhance ventilation, while the seamless upper design eliminates overlapping fabrics and seams.

Yonex Badminton Shoe Material and Technology

Yonex Badminton Shoe Material and Technology

All Yonex footwear is equipped with the POWER CUSHION technology.  This thin and lightweight shock absorbing material smoothly reverses the impact energy into your next movement.  A raw egg can be dropped from a height of 7m onto the POWER CUSHION mat and can rebound back up to a height of 4m without breaking.  This material also absorbs 3 times more shock than Urethane.

Higher-end shoes will have the 3-LAYER POWER CUSHION.  They use higher density POWER CUSHION for the top and bottom layers which improves shock absorption by 30% compared to just POWER CUSHION.  The 3-Layer POWER CUSHION is used only in higher-end shoes.

    Full Cushion Sole+S
Features POWER CUSHION throughout the entire midsole.  This increases the level of cushioning and reduces the stress placed on the ankle and heel for a pleasant fit.
[Only found in the SHB Comfort Tour Badminton Shoes]

    3D Power Graphite Sheet
Provides reinforcement under and outside the center of the foot, reducing shoe twist.
[Only found in the SHB Aerus 2 Badminton Shoes]

    Toe Assist Shape
A toe-centric design that cuts down pressure in the big toe and offers support at the mid-foot and heel to provide a more stable fit.

    Flexion Upper
Asymmetrical upper design with eyelets following the curved shape of the instep, creating a better fit around the inner arch.  It allows all the stress on landing to be absorbed through the toes and instep.
[Only found in SHB03Z, SHB03, and SHBComfort Tour]

    Tough Guard III
    Extremely durable wear-resistant synthetic leather

    Durable Skin
Polyurethane material offering improved high shape retention, wear-resistance and heat-resistance

    Double Russel Mesh
    Highly breathable open mesh

    Lateral Shell
Situated at the outer area of the upper, it prevents sliding at the edge of the sole.  This reduces power loss, increases footwork response and creates smooth and fluid movement.

Removes pressure an provides a comfortable fit around the toes.  It shifts the center of gravity to the big toe for a painless fit that offers more speed in your step.

    ToughBrid Light
New ToughBrid Light offers 11% reduction in weight while maintaining its cushioning, shape retention and high elasticity.

    Hyper msLite
10% reduction in weight compared to previous Super Feather Lite midsole material, while preserving a consistent shape over a long period of time.

    Power Graphite Lite
Graphite plate placed under metatarsus reduces weight and improves stability on landing.

    Synchro-Fit Insole
Creates a secure contact between foot and shoe, reducing energy wastage through an improved fit.

Fig 1. Compared with conventional badminton shoes, the mid to heel section on the insole is elevated to provide an improved fit between foot and shoe.

Fig 2. By holding the heel firmly against the insole, the gap between foot and shoe is reduced, improving comfort and performance, ensuring the foot has maximum grip inside the shoe.

    Fig 1.

     Fig 2.

Hexagrip pattern provides 3% more grip and is 20% lighter than standard sole material, creating agile and stable footwork.

    Round Sole
Designed to provide all-round support for quick and smooth footwork.  Ensures maximum transfer of energy when moving around the court.

Below is a chart from Yonex that shows you what type of material and technology is used in each shoe.

    Yonex Nanoray Glanz Review

The Yonex Nanoray Glanz is a user friendly racket and is quite forgiving. It has a wider racket head frame that enlarges the sweet spot giving the shot a more accurate area and makes the shuttle fly a further distance even with minimal input of power. This racket is designed to help compensate for the weaker pronation and supination seen in mid-level players.  As a result, clears, smashes, and backhand shots will be greatly improved.  The only downside to this racket is the suggested max string tension of 22lbs which is a bit low and the high price tag of the racket. Other than that, the racket overall is easy to use and feels sturdy.

    Power: 8/10
    Speed: 10/10
    Control: 9/10
    Touch: 9/10
    User-Friendliness: 10/10
